How does distance Reiki work?
When I first learned about Reiki, I had no idea how it worked. All I knew was that universal energy is real and I believed it could be used to heal.
I’ve come to understand that Reiki is the practice of directing universal energy to a willing recipient by a trained Reiki practitioner. It is also known as Chakra Balancing and is the same energy as Qi or Prana. Reiki energy does not come from the practitioner, it flows through them into the recipient. Reiki energy activates the body’s innate ability to heal. Crystals can also be used to increase the healing capacity of a Reiki session by harnessing their unique vibrational frequencies.
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Some of the benefits of a Reiki session include pain relief, decreased anxiety and feelings of sadness, releasing traumas from this life and past lives, as well as clarity and renewed sense of purpose and insight into your current life issues. Reiki can also be used on situations and events whether past or future.
What Happens at a Reiki Session?
In an in-person Reiki session, the recipient will lay face up on a bed or table and the practitioner lays their hands on the recipient in specific positions for a period of time, calling upon Reiki energy to help their body heal for the highest good of all involved. The practitioner will invoke sacred symbols that they were given during their training that hold a high resonance. The practitioner will move down the recipients body from head to foot and focus on specific areas of the body. There are 12 Reiki hand positions that are generally used throughout every Reiki healing session and sessions typically last anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour.
There will usually be calm music playing softly and comfortable blankets provided to help the recipient relax and enjoy their experience. Some practitioners use incense or essential oils in their practice as well. The practitioner will use intuition to guide them on how long or short of a time each area needs and if there are any blockages that need assistance in clearing.
Crystals can also be used in a Reiki session by harnessing their unique vibrational frequencies to elevate the session to another level.
In my Reiki sessions, I typically receive messages from the client’s spirit guides as well, and I relay the pertinent information to my client’s to further help them heal.
How Does Distance Reiki Work?
To help you understand how a distance Reiki session works scientifically, let me share a study done on the power of prayer energy.
In the year 2000, Leonard Liebovici conducted a double blind study. He took over 3,000 patients who were in the hospital with sepsis and asked the participants of the study to pray for certain patients, with other patients not receiving any prayers. The prayer recipients were found to have a shorter duration of fever, a lower rate of hospital stay and even a slightly lower mortality rate. Sounds pretty incredible, right? Here’s the kicker- the patients being prayed for were in the hospital during the years 1990-1996. And yes, this study was conducted in 2000. That means that things such as prayer and sending good thoughts to others can affect the past, present and future outcomes. This is the same energy as Reiki, it is the universal language of love and healing and it does not exist within our time and space constraints.
What Happens During a Distance Reiki Session?
When performing a distance Reiki session, you will be asked to find somewhere quiet where you will not be interrupted for the duration of the session. Practitioners will often have the client listen to music while they relax on a bed and keep their mind clear and open to receive Reiki energy. It’s a good idea to spend your time in a somewhat meditative and reflective state, as this will help open your body-mind to receive Reiki energy. The practitioner will use a surrogate in place of the recipient in a distance Reiki session. I find that using my own body as a surrogate is most helpful but other practitioners will use a teddy bear, doll, or crystals. The practitioner will then perform the Reiki session on the surrogate and use their training to channel Reiki energy to the client. I typically receive messages from the client’s spirit guides during distance sessions as well. This universal energy exists around all of us, at all times and we do not need to travel to receive the benefits. Sessions will still typically last between 15 minutes to an hour depending on your practitioner.
Can You Feel Reiki?
You can expect to feel any of the following during a Reiki session: tingling sensations, pressure, nausea, see images or hear sounds, and feel different emotions. Oftentimes, old feelings or past events can come up as a result of working through them too. You may not feel anything at all and that is totally normal and okay too, that does not mean the Reiki is not working. Reiki energy activates your body’s natural ability to heal and it will always go where it is needed. Just one session can help your conditions improve drastically, but some people need more than one. It is all relative to the recipient and their body.
